Duties and Responsibilities

i.                 Conduct patient interviews to gather medical history and discuss symptoms.

ii.                Perform physical examinations and assess the musculoskeletal system’s condition.

iii.              Interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, MRIs and CT scans, to aid diagnosis.

iv.              Develop comprehensive treatment plans, considering both surgical and non-surgical interventions.

v.                Recommend appropriate treatments to reduce pain and improve function.

vi.              Perform various orthopedic surgeries, including joint replacements (e.g., hips and knees), fracture fixation and arthroscopic procedures.

vii.             Treat congenital, degenerative, infectious and traumatic musculoskeletal conditions.

viii.           Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, monitoring patient progress and managing recovery.

ix.              Prescribe and administer appropriate medications.

x.                Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options and recovery processes.

xi.              Work closely with other medical specialists, such as radiologists, anesthesiologists and physical therapists, to ensure holistic patient care.

xii.             Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and on-call schedules to manage patient needs, especially in emergencies.

Requirements for Appointment

i.                 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

ii.                Masters in Orthopedic Surgery.

iii.              Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

iv.              Valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

v.                Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.

vi.              Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.

vii.             Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
