Duties and Responsibilities

  • To nurture young learners holistically.

  • Teaching and mentoring learners.

  • Develop schedules and enforce routines for learners, ensuring adequate physical activities and rest.

  • Develop schemes of work and lesson notes.

  • Ensure registration of learners.

  • Maintain learners’ progress and health reports.

  • Liaise with the Ministry of Health for deworming and other health-related issues.

  • Maintain a safe and comfortable ECDE learning environment.

  • Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline.

  • Communicate learners’ behavior and development to parents/guardians through reports.

  • Use play and instructional techniques (e.g., storytelling, rhyming games) to enhance learning.

  • Address and cater to learners with special needs.

  • Sensitize the community on Early Years Education (EYE).

  • Perform any other duty assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) with a TSC number.

  • Minimum academic qualification: D+ and above.

  • Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification either from ministry of  education or KNEC Certificate  in Early Childhood Education, Diploma qualifications is an added advantage.

  • Should be  fluent and eloquent in the National official Languages

  • Should be  45 years of age  and below.

  • Competency in (CBC) curriculum.

  • Applicant must  have a working experience  in ECDE Center  or Equivalent  for a minimum period of  three (3) years.

  • Computer literate.
